A couple of weeks ago I took some time to create a simple Facebook company page for My Bank Tracker. I wasn’t satisfied with the busy “wall” where things looked messy and complicated. So I went ahead and created a custom landing page. It wasn’t as easy and straightforward as I thought it would be so I decided to write a post about it. You can see the end results here:
After a few frustrating hours I came up with a simple solution that worked well. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create a featured page:
1. Create a facebook page
2. Go to Page admin and add FMBL application that is available to add here.
3. Now go back to your page admin and edit applications settings. Give a proper name to your page and add a link to your your hosted image or any other media file using simple HTML. Your files will have to be hosted on your own server or third party companies (e.g. Flickr):
4. Go back to your admin page and edit Wall settings. Set “Default Landing Tab for Everyone Else:” to your FBML page name. In my case, it was the “Fan” page:
5. And there you go! Every time users land on your page, they will see your featured FBML page instead of the Wall page.
